Connectors

Synthetic Users in ChatGPT and Claude

Plan studies, run interviews with synthetic users and read the findings without leaving the conversation. The connector works with your existing Synthetic Users account and the workspace you choose.

What you can do

  • Find your projects and studies, and read their findings, interviews and reports.
  • Set up studies: research goal interviews, concept tests, custom scripts (including Quantitative Testing), ethnographic research and user testing on a live website.
  • Create audiences and generate synthetic users to review before any interview runs.
  • Run interviews after confirming them in a card, and follow their progress live.
  • Upload concept images, videos and documents, and context documents your synthetic users draw on.
  • Create reports and download them, or export transcripts and other study files.

Connect in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors. Find Synthetic Users in the directory, or choose Add custom connector and paste https://api.syntheticusers.com/mcp.
  2. Click Connect, sign in to Synthetic Users and choose the workspace the connection may access.
  3. Start a conversation and ask Claude to list your Synthetic Users projects.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings → Connectors, and members then click Connect. It works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, and in Claude Code.

Connect in ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins, search for Synthetic Users and connect it.
  2. Sign in to Synthetic Users and choose the workspace the connection may access.
  3. In a conversation, type @, pick Synthetic Users and ask it to list your projects.

ChatGPT can also hand the connector a file you attach in the conversation, such as a research brief, so you don't have to upload it again.

Credits and confirmation

  • Reading research, setting up studies and generating synthetic users use no credits.
  • Interviews use your workspace's credits. They start only when you click Confirm and run in the confirmation card, which shows the participants and the maximum credits. Nothing the assistant writes in the chat can start them.
  • Reports and exports of existing results don't run new interviews.

Your data

The connector acts only in the workspace you chose when you connected, with your permissions there. It receives the requests the assistant makes on your behalf and the files you upload, stores what it creates in that workspace, and returns the research you ask for to the conversation. ChatGPT and Claude handle the conversation itself under their own terms. We don't use your research to train shared models.

See the privacy policy and terms of service for the details.

Disconnect

In Synthetic Users, open Settings → Connect to MCP and click Disconnect next to the app under Connected apps. Its access stops at once, and the next request asks to reconnect. You can also remove the connector in ChatGPT or Claude.

Good to know

  • Synthetic users are AI simulations, not people. Their answers help you form hypotheses and plan research; they don't establish what real people will think or do.
  • A study runs up to 20 synthetic users. Quantitative Testing, a custom-script study with an audience built in the Audience Crafter, runs 50–300 where your plan includes it.
  • The study types and features available depend on your workspace and plan. Cards appear where the app supports them, with links to the web app elsewhere.
